All Points is a proposal for a small set of unofficial wayfinding and orientation points physically embedded in New York’s urban fabric, each about the size of a person’s hand. Each small display will be based on the same networked computing platform, set of content genres, and special stochastic pixel matrix. But as well as bearing location- and time-specific content and vectors, the shape of each display will be custom fabricated to fit or patch a unique local condition – a form appropriate to a mutable city of patches, reuse, and myriad pedestrian practices, and an argument that locative computing need not itself be mobile in order to engage mobility.

Linked by Air dabbles in the demoscene/makes a realtime responsive 3D environment/ok, disco light show. The volumes are deciding on their own how to respond to the music a DJ plays. Cast onto a big holographic scrim at the Architectural League of New York’s Beaux Arts Ball, in the Three Legged Dog theater.

Proposed content and design for an LED display in the through-block lobby of the Metropolitan Tower, New York. Some of the designs respond in realtime to people’s movements and their relationship to the architecture: panes of color appear whenever a pedestrian crosses a crack between wall panels; moving waves appear from either end of the lobby whenever one of the revolving doors moves.

We designed and programmed eleven different interactive mirrors to decorate Prada’s Soho store. They’re in the store now if you visit. As a vendor to 2x4. Closer look: we posted an HD version of the movie (MP4, 290mb).

Online interface that visualizes the winds measured by the off-shore buoys around the US coast in real time. The user types in a buoy ID number to add a representation of that buoy to the display. Clicking anywhere on the blue background generates words (“shift”) that serve as “bobs” to gauge the overall prevailing field of wind forces, as they are visibly blown around the screen depending on the current wind configuration.
